SELECTED ALBUM REVIEWS:

“Ambitious, Eccentric, bounding sound” – BBC Music

“Featherwest’s soothing vocal leads to all kinds of harmonious tomfoolery when the drums kick in and gives way to a flurry of action and the odd interruption of vocal percussion.” – Fresh Waves

“With their pristine production and more importantly uplifting tracks, Glasgow’s Featherwest are yet another collective to stand out amongst a saturation of electronic pop, lad indie rock and uninventive emo. People In The Station’ has identified Featherwest as a charismatic and luminous group! Live, these pop mavericks are as intriguing as they come.” – Podcart

LISTEN TO ‘HOME AT SEA’ – DEBUT ALBUM by FEATHERWEST

Effervescent, indietronic-artrock meets wonky pop created by enigmatic partners in life and art FEATHERWEST. A poetic, off-center take on the human condition straddling live band and electronic with vintage synths, samples and soaring male – female vocal interplay.

FEATHERWEST’s debut album ‘Home At Sea’ is a collection of songs built around the soundscapes of vintage synths, samples, harmonic male – female vocals that straddle from electronic smoothly into band music (live drums, guitars) all with a distinct, true live air rapping round it.

‘Home at Sea’ was recorded in Scotland by Paul Savage, mastered in London by Pete Maher expertly master cut on Vinyl in the Czech Republic and designed and packaged in Poland. Loose Wire has been a longtime supporter of FEATHERWEST and were thrilled to help coordinate the design, pressing and distribution of the beautiful Transparent Red Vinyl LPs.

THE FEATHERWEST STORY

Borne of a serendipitous meeting between Iwona and Ryan during a 5am police raid clambering from the window of, then illegal, Soho club Helena Troys; Featherwest are married Glasgow duo and Iwona Glowinska and Ryan Denton (synths, vocals, guitars) joined by close friend Kev Dunne (session drums).

Naming themselves after a fictitious, unresolvable game played in the 90s absurd comedy show The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer the group have played alongside colorful, acts such as Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio, Mini Mansions, The Japanese House, BMX Bandits and stirred attention on KEXP and BBC Introducing live sessions.

With this album project the duo had a specific place and person they wished to work with in their sights and went for it. Paul Savage (Chem 19 Studios) the producer of three epic Mogwai albums, Arab Strap, Emma Pollock, Deacon Blue, King Creosote, Franz Ferdinand played an important and creative role in the process of recording and producing ‘Home at Sea.’
